Colette Anderson
Statement As a lifelong artist and lover of tools, I have been creating in many mediums from fabric on an old Singer, to wax, pencil - fell in love with watercolors. I love making a certain material appear to be an entirely different thing. I love using color, coupled with the lack of color to create what I can imagine.
Framing and matting soon followed. That is it's own medium. My small frame shop served me well. In the late 2010's I needed a change. Shortly after my mother passed she still gave me more inspiration. I am now working in silverplate. Yes, your gramdmother's silverware. People have been making rings out silverplate for a very long time. I will leave the history lesson to those who are better teachers than I. When polishing an heirloom utensil, I wonder about the group of people who were at that table, enjoying the fare that it it served. From watercolor to metal; I still love introducing color and making the medium appear to be fluid. |
