Cat Sirianni
StatementI grew up in rural NW Pennsylvania in the midst of the Allegheny National Forest. My grandparents owned a three hundred acre farm and my father was in the lumber business. I spent most of my childhood surrounded by nature but never really at home in it.
My work as an artist is dominated by images of the world around me. I see my paintings as artifacts of my journey. They document my quest to identify and claim a place my heart calls home. I paint sweeping landscapes, or studies of elements I find within them. They are an invitation to share my experience, to breathe the air of lands which call to me in their silence and desolation, and to gaze on the ideal places I embrace as home. They are both the journey and a record of it. |
