Statement

I have concluded after all these years that to live a peaceful, Zen-like life, you need to surround yourself with things that you love. The colors, the textures, the scents, the sounds that you love. Love of art and creating is part of this. “Jack of all trades and master of none” comes to mind when I think about my adventures in the artistic world. My artistic talents can be acceptable in various mediums of art but I have never really excelled in any one area. For a few year, I lost my ability or maybe confidence to create, but I stayed connected to my love of art through volunteering at our gallery, again surrounding myself with things I loved.

Techniques & Media

On a visit to an art gallery in Ohio, I discovered a picture made with “leaf skeletons”. I loved the raw organic feeling of them. I started getting excited about creating again, this time with something that was unique and could be incorporated into many different mediums. The pictures I do now consist of a raw wooden frame that is in stark contrast to the luxurious velvet background. I have found many different leaf skeleton species that I can create with. Having made jewelry for a few years, I accumulated vast amounts of beads that I now incorporate in my designs, again mixing the beautiful colors ad shine of the beads with the raw organics of the leaves. So for now, leaf skeletons it is. I can combine the unique, intricacy of nature with my love of texture and colors.

Education & Training

I attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Interior Design.
