Lisa Conn
Conklin Studio Pottery
StatementLisa C Conn is a clay artist and the owner of Conklin Studio Pottery which is located in the Alleghany National Forest area of Pennsylvania. She creates sculpted pieces from stoneware and porcelain, suitable for both garden and home. Her creations capture the weird and whimsical side of the flora and fauna found in this region. All pieces are hand built, hand glazed and no molds are used.
Lisa is a juried artisan of the Pennsylvania Wilds and also a PA Wilds branded licensee. Her work can be found throughout the region at various galleries, host sites and shops. Techniques: All pieces are hand built from stoneware or porcelain clay. Sculpting is done by adding and removing clay until the desired form is achieved. Some sculpting tools may be used to create textures like fur or scales. After a period of drying, anywhere from a week to a month depending on the thickness of the piece, it will be bisque fired in a kiln. After bisque firing, all pieces are hand painted with various glazes or underglazes and fired again in a Glaze firing which will vitrify the clay making it suitable for interior or exterior spaces. |
